We Have Found Him !

Text: John 1: 35 -46


Introduction: Since the emptiness Adam felt when seperated from God, mankind has searched for a Messiah. Man has looked for someone or something to come to his aid. That search has lead him through endless pursuits; wealth, fame, power, religion, spiritual experiences of any kind. Anything to satisfy the craving for peace and contentment. But Peace is only found when you find the Prince of Peace.

John12:21 The same came therefore to Philip, which was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him, saying, Sir, we would see Jesus. ( To "know"; to descern clearly, to experience, to appear before )

Millions have shouted like Philip, "We have found Him --- Come and See !"

What have millions "found" in Him ? ( Jesus is many things to many people )

(1) AN ADULTRESS FOUND MERCY AND FORGIVENESS (John 8:3 - 11)

(A) The people wanted to give her justice, Jesus gave mercy. ( We want justice for others, but mercy for ourselves.)

(B) She was guilty, caught in the very act, all the evidence was there, the Law was plain, "stone her." But Jesus gave mercy and pardon.

(C) Jesus "wrote" (only time) on the ground, What we do not know. ( Most likely personal sins of her accusers) Jesus said; "He that is without sin, cast the first stone!" They being convicted of their own sin, left ! John 8:11 "And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

(2) THE SAMARITAN WOMAN, A SOCIAL OUTCAST, FOUND TRUE LOVE AND FULFILMENT. (John 4:4 - 29)

(A) Samaritans were a mixed race, "dogs" to the Scribes. She had five husbands in the past and was "shacking up" with one at the present. ( How would most churches treat her today?)

(B) Jesus already know "all" about her, but he cared enough to go out of his way to meet her. John 4:3 - 4 He left Judaea, and departed again into Galilee. And he must needs go through Samaria.

(C) She came to the well at mid-day, (sixth hour) a time when others would be gone so she would not have to confront those who would shame her.

(D) She came with a small water pot, but left with a "well"! The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men, Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?

(3) A MAN BOUND BY SATAN, LIVING IN A GRAVEYARD, SET FREE ! (Mark 5:2)

(A) Running naked, filled with an "unclean spirit" (Gr. impure, lewd) No man could hold him, no chains strong enough to bind him. ( Good candidate for the Power Team)

(B) How many today are bound by "impure and lewd"spirits? (Alcohol, drugs, sex perversion)

(C) Jesus commanded the spirit; "Come out"! Next we see him setting "clothed and in his right mind." ( Those changed by Jesus still ought to put some clothes on ) Jesus said; " Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.

The moral to this story? Even Hogs can't stand to live full of the Devil, How can You ?

(4) MULTITUDES CAME TO JESUS AND FOUND HEALING FOR DISEASES (Luke 6:19)

(A) Man with the palsy, Lepers, Blind men, Woman with an issue of blood, "And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him, and healed them all.

Millions have found what they needed in Him ! How can "You" find Him ?

What will You find ? Love, Mercy, Forgiveness, Peace, Comfort, Healing, Deliverance !
